ALLERGY
Sneezing attacks, nasal congestion, itching and watering in the eyes, cough, headache… All these complaints negatively affect the health of asthma patients, especially with the arrival of spring. So what to do to minimize these allergic reactions?
HIGH RISK OF ASTHMA IN PEOPLE WITH Hay Fever
With the arrival of spring, the pollen that spreads to the atmosphere reaches the mouth, nose, eyes and even the lungs. Especially in windy weather, complaints caused by these pollens increase. This allergic rhinitis, which causes allergic reactions and is known as hay fever, is seen in one out of every three people and mostly causes coughing attacks in asthma patients.
TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST ALLERGENS
Asthma patients should take personal precautions against allergens such as mold, dust and animal dander, especially pollen. Allergens cause various reactions in some organs such as the nose and eyes. One of these reactions is histamine.
Histamine causes fluids in the body to leak from the veins into the tissues. This causes itching of the body, tearing of the eyes, redness, congestion and discharge in the nose, increased inflammation in the lungs, coughing and wheezing. Especially with the secretion of histamine, the symptoms of allergic rhinitis begin. Allergic diseases are most common in the respiratory tract. Hay fever and asthma can be seen together or as separate diseases. It should be kept in mind that the majority of patients with hay fever may develop asthma.
WAYS TO PROTECT FROM POLEN ALLERGY IN SPRING
As the allergen load increases in spring, people in the risk group should be protected from pollen as much as possible. For this;
Change their clothes when children come from the street,
Wash your hair and take a shower every evening,
Take care to keep your windows closed while driving,
Turn on the air conditioner to ensure air exchange in the car,
Do not leave your windows open when you are at home,
The first hours of the morning and towards the evening are the hours when the pollen is flying the most. So try not to go out into the open air. If you need to go out, cover your mouth and nose with a mask,
Avoid exercise and sports outdoors during pollen time,
If there is an air conditioner in your home and office, change the filter frequently,
Prefer the seaside for your holiday,
Use glasses outside and wash your glasses thoroughly with water frequently,
Ask a doctor about pollen season hay fever, asthma and other illnesses that can occur.
