Basic Management Practices
1-) We have established a breastfeeding policy to protect, promote and support breast milk and breastfeeding practice at Private Avrupa Şafak Hospital.
a-) We fully implement the International Law on the Marketing of Breast Milk and its Substitutes and the relevant resolutions of the World Health Assembly.
b-) We have established a written infant feeding policy that is shared with staff and parents on a regular basis.
c-)We established continuous monitoring and data management systems.
2-) We ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge, competencies and skills to support mothers in breastfeeding.
Basic Clinical Practice
3-) We inform pregnant women and families about the importance and management of breastfeeding.
4-) We support mothers to establish skin-to-skin contact with their babies as soon as they are born, to start breastfeeding as soon as possible and to maintain uninterrupted contact.
5-) We offer support to mothers in initiating and maintaining breastfeeding and managing common difficulties.
6-) Unless there is a medical necessity, we do not give the newborn any food or liquid other than breast milk.
7-)We ensure that mothers are kept together with their babies and stay in the bear room 24 hours a day.
8-) We support mothers in recognizing and responding to the signs their babies give when they are hungry.
9-)We provide counseling to mothers on the use and risks of bottles and pacifiers.
10-) We provide information on centers where parents and their babies can access continuous support and care services for breastfeeding prior to discharge.
